What
can we give the God who has everything?
I was thinking about this the other day. What can i offer Yeshua that He does not already have or could create. After all He created the entire Universe. He designed and created every living creature in it. If He wants another star or earth He can just speak it into existence.
If He wants another human or
another race He just says it, and there it is. So you say, well the Bible says
that He's done creating, maybe. But He could just create a second universe if
it pleases Him. That's the benefit of being the sovereign God. He can do
anything He wants, whenever He wants. He does not need to nor asks for our permission.
If He decides to do something that we believe is contrary to what the Bible
says, then you'd better put your bets on Him. The Bible has no power to stop
Him, nor do we. I'm certainly not going to stand on the Earth and shout up at
Him and say You can not do that it says so right here in this book. If you do
you'll answer to me!? (Sorry, i got side tracked.)
So what have i got to offer Him that He does not already have? Money? Now that's laughable. What interest does He have in
our pieces of paper with special ink on them? Our church
attendance? He's with us every moment of every day. Our
praise and worship? If we do not praise Him the rocks and stones will praise
Him and creation will worship Him. Our service? He
already has created angels to serve Him, as if He needs service. How did He
function before He created? In thinking long and hard about this i could not come up with anything that He needs from us,
and only one thing He desires from us, that is Love.
He is the only source of
Love in the Universe. He is Love, it is His very nature. Anyone that has Love
got it from Him. This is no other source of Love. There is counterfeit Love,
there are actions that look like Love but are not. There those who say they
Love but do not. Love is freely given expecting nothing in return. It is given
out of a pure heart with no motive other than to help the one being Loved. Love does not coheres the
beloved into a certain behavior. It is not a bribe. Love does not require a
return on investment. Love does not bind but frees. Love does not harm but
heals. Love does not take credit but gives credit. Love does not punish but empowers.
Love must come from free will otherwise
it is not Love. Love must come from a free choice to benefit the beloved at the
sacrifice of self. If it comes from something that appeals to the senses, something
that satisfies the emotions or appeals to pride, it is not Love, its lust. If
it expects something in return its not Love, its
manipulation. If it comes out of the Holy Spirit with in us to benefit the
beloved then it is God like and is real Love. It costs us something of our self
life. Love and sacrifice go hand in hand.
This is what we can give
Him, Love. He does not Love us expecting anything in return. He loves us whether
we respond or not. I saw a t-Shirt the other day that said God loves porn
stars. Well you know that is true. It could just as well have said God loves
Satanist, also true. He sends His rain to the just and the unjust, because it
is His nature, Love. The nature of Love is that there cannot be strings
attached. Love cannot exist in the absence of free will. He could create a whole race of being that loved
Him but if they had no say in the matter then it would not be real Love. It
would be a form of slavery. If i have no choice in
the matter do i Love? No. This is why He operates in
Grace. Grace removes the barrier to Love. It removes the sin/punishment motive
for Loving Father. He made us the righteousness of God in Yeshua because of
Faith. Since we are now righteous we do not have to Love Him so that He will
over look our sins thus avoiding punishment. We are free to chose to Love and
worship Him for who He is not what we can get out of it. Those men who say that
we should love and serve Him for benefits that we get from it are operating out
of lust not Love. If we choose not to Love Him we are not punished for it, He
just forgives us even more, if that were possible, knowing that he who is
forgiven much Loves much. Love covers a multitude of
sins. Perfect Love casts out all fear. It is not that He needs our Love, since
He is the source of ALL Love. His desire is that we all become Lovers like
Himself. We get to give Him something that is priceless, our portion of Love of
our own free will. In Loving Him and those around us we become sons just like
our Father.
